There was some serious funk, soul and gospel that electrified Ottawa this past Sunday at the Ottawa Jazz Festival. With a packed crowd, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings put together an entertaining, energetic show that left everyone wanting more.
One of the most entertaining parts of the evening was when Sharron pulled Ottawa resident Liam McArdle on stage for a little seduction. Little to her surprise Liam had some dance moves of his own leaving the crowd in awe. Liam’s dancing was so impressive we though we would leave you with a collection of his dance moves.
Sadly they didn’t come but up for a much expected encore, however I’m sure we will see them back here next year. Band members include Homer Steinweiss – drums, Binky Griptite – guitar Bugaloo Velez – congas, Dave Guy – trumpet, Tommy ‘TNT’ Brenneck – guitar, Bosco Mann – bass, Neal Sugarman – tenor saxophone, Ian Hendrickson-Smith – baritone saxophone and of course, the one and only Sharron Jones – vocals.

This was an amazing show…I had never been to Jazz fest before and was so excited to see Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings as her performance was electrifying and energizing. She really wants everyone to get up and dance….
But i was SO DISAPPOINTED that people were pissy that i was standing and dancing (only as Sharon would want me to).
Because of that, I wont check out the Jazz fest again….
